This explains how I to installed CALIBRE SERVER on an atv1 running osmc 2017.08 I will edit this post to reflect any changes I make to my setup. Thse Include installing the latest version of calibre (instead of the older 2.x from debian packages), with it’s improved user access control etc. While my setup is now working, I’d plan on making making some changes. The remote for the Belkin dock has never worked reliably.īy combining both audio playback, and file server, I can elminate extra hardware, and improve audio quality.Īs a first step, I’ve got my initial setup of Calibre server working. I have been using a 200gb iPod in a Belkin iPod docking station, with analog out, for my 9000 + (approx) song music library. A built in “UPS” was it’s primary advantage. The battery life on the laptop has gone to zero, thereby removing it’s ability to avoid power outages. I have been using an old mac laptop for calibre and NFS shares. I suggest a combination of -enable-auth and a new flag, like -enable- global- read.Since my ATV1 is retired from normal video use, I’ve been wanting to test it as a headless server for: Ideally, I would like it if there could be an option for read-only access to be granted to unauthenticated users, but keep authentication on for write access. My use case here is that I would like to have unauthenticated read access to the server, but restrict write access to only myself due to a different bug (#1850607), I cannot connect to the server from localhost using SSL, so simply using -enable- local-write won't work (and I'd like to add books from other machines, too!) The use of -userdb and -disable-auth together is also not an error, even though -userdb is ignored. Using calibredb, the -username and -password is ignored. With authentication disabled, Calibre will always reject all write access from a remote address, even if a -userdb is used it won't challenge for a username and password, it just fails. Calibre server authentication controls both read and write access, with no way to grant one and not the other. ![]()
